The Divine Meaning of the Rainbow

I’m sure you’ve looked at the sky after a storm and seen a rainbow. Sometimes the colors of the rainbow make it very visible and easy to see, while other times it appears more faint. I want you to know that every rainbow means something. There is a message and meaning that comes with every rainbow that appears. The rainbow is more than just pretty colors that brighten the sky after the rain. The rainbow is a sign but not just for a certain group, but for all people and every living creature on earth. The rainbow is a reminder of the covenant that God made with mankind.
“I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh”(Gen.9:13-15). The rainbow is a sign or reminder of the covenant that God made with Noah and all mankind that He’d never again destroy the occupants of the world with a flood. As beautiful as the rainbow is, it is more than pretty colors in the sky. The rainbow is God’s sign to us that He remembers the agreement He made with mankind.(Gen.9:16-17) It’s a continual reminder that God keeps His promises.
The rainbow is a sign of grace and mercy as it reminds us that we may see rain and even floods, but we’ll never see a flood that destroys the world. The rainbow shows that God really does loves us and wants us to love Him and have a relationship with Him. I can’t see a rainbow and not think about God and be reminded that God is in control no matter what is going on in this world. I hope the next time you see a rainbow you will remember the true and divine meaning behind it.
