"The Lord's Servant

What does it mean to be the Lord’s servant? Yes, it means we are in Christ and saved by His grace through the blood of Jesus. The Lord’s servant can and should have assurance of the salvation that awaits him or her in heaven. Forgiveness of sins, salvation, and heaven are the things we like to talk about. These are the wonderful benefits of being a faithful servant of the Lord. But, digging deeper into scripture we find some God-given expectations for the Lord’s servant.

“And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness.” (II Timothy 2:24-25) The Lord’s servant should not be argumentative or contentious, but kind to everyone. Christians do not represent God well when they argue about everything. Being kind is not a difficult thing to do and something God expects His servants to practice. No matter the bad day you are having, you can still be kind to others and help to improve their day. The Lord’s servant is also the Lord’s representative, and unkindness is a poor representation of the Lord. The challenge for you and me is to look deep into our daily personal lives to make sure we are doing the things that true servants of the Lord do to honor God.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.” (Galatians 5:22-23)
