"Don't Lose Your Zeal For God"

July 08, 2020 | By Chuck

I can’t remember watching the news without mention of the Corona virus. The numbers are continuing to change daily and we certainly are hearing about it. This pandemic has literally changed our daily lives. Some avoid eating in restaurants. Why go in the grocery store when you can do online pick-up? Since March our church assemblies have changed. We just recently started gathering at the building again on Sunday morning for worship and our other assemblies and classes still remain online only.
All of these changes can lead to anxiety, stress, discouragement and depression as one could easily feel alone and alienated. My encouragement to you is don’t lose your zeal for God. No matter what happens or what changes come, don’t lose your zeal for God. Zeal is our fervent enthusiasm for our relationship with God. Without regular church meetings, Bible studies and other church activities spiritual discouragement and spiritual laziness become potential problems. Both are zeal killers as they drain your spiritual energy. Things are different, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t still be excited about our relationship with God, all of His blessings and especially the hope of heaven someday.
“Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord”(Rom.12:11).
