"The Real Enemy"

“The Real Enemy”
Why? I’m confident that question is asked multiple times every single day all across the world. Why does a man pull out an assault rifle during a routine traffic stop and kill the law enforcement officer who is just trying to do his job? Why is sex trafficking children an issue? Why does an adult desire to abuse a child? Why do people premeditate and carry out mass shootings? I could list many more “why” questions that I’m sure we all ask.
I believe the answer to all of these questions begins with understanding who the real enemy is. “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places”(Eph.6:11-12). The battle we fight daily is against our enemy, Satan. Our battle is not with people but the one who works his dark schemes behind the scenes in the lives of people. We must realize that our battle is spiritual in nature and with Satan, who will do anything to destroy our family, life and ultimately our soul.
There are those influential people and leaders who claim the solution is control. If we only had more control of this or that. What we all need to realize and accept is just how little control we actually have. What we need in the midst of this horrific battle with Satan is God control. We need to recognize God as the One in total control of everything and relinquish whatever so-called control we think we have to Him. When we accept that our battle is spiritual and against Satan and we give complete control of our lives over to God the fight is winnable.
To put a patch on all of these physical tragedies, which are the result of the greater spiritual battle, is to never create a true solution. What’s the solution to all the violence and immorality? Look below the surface of the news reports to the real problem, our spiritual battle with Satan and trust God with all of your heart as the only one who can see us through and win this spiritual war with Satan. “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm”(Eph.6:13).
