"Remember The Gift"

December 13, 2019 | By Chuck

One Christmas when I was a kid there was one specific gift that had my attention for weeks leading up to the holiday. It was a huge present that stood against the wall next to the tree because it wouldn’t fit underneath. I had no idea what this particular gift was and couldn’t wait to open it Christmas morning. Christmas morning finally came and I was able to unwrap this huge gift that had occupied my curiosity for what seemed like forever. My mom had wrapped several small gifts and put them in a huge box and wrapped it. I was totally surprised and will never forget that one gift that turned out to be so many. I’m sure you have a similar memory of receiving your favorite gift.
With the holidays comes many extra chores and responsibilities. From Christmas shopping to preparing meals and holiday treats, this time of year tends to make our busy lives even busier. As you anticipate spending Christmas with family and friends I want to encourage you to remember the gift. You don’t need to double check your list to make sure you have a gift for everyone. You just need to remember the gift that God gave us in the birth of His Son. We focus a lot on the death of Jesus and rightfully so, but there wouldn’t be a death story without a birth story. Jesus was born to die for our sins, so remember the gift.
“She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins”(Mt.1:21).
