"Remember God"

March 13, 2020 | By Chuck

The coronavirus is making a name for itself. The impact is incredible as the whole world seems to be talking about it. I was asked if I have ever in my lifetime seen anything like this. No, never, not even close. You might as well say the sports world has shut down. As I write this I just received word that the biggest golf tournament of the year, the Masters, has been postponed due to the virus. Universities and local schools and some agencies and businesses are closing their doors and having their employees work from home.
So, what do we do? No sports, no Disneyland and in some cases no school or work, now what? Empty shelves at stores get our attention as some of life’s necessities are becoming scarce. Is our world slowly and right before our eyes shutting down? My thoughts are simple, don’t panic and remember God. Does all of this get our attention? Sure, how could it not? But, no matter how severe it gets, we must remember that God is still in control and He loves His people.
I find comfort knowing that God is fully aware of the chaotic state our world is in at this time and that He is concerned for His people. A God who loves His people and is concerned about them will act on their behalf. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble”(Psalm 46:1). “Be still, and know that I am God”(Psalm 46:10). Remember God!
