"Fear"

According to Dictionary.Com, panic is a sudden overwhelming fear and hysteria is an uncontrollable outburst of emotion or fear. The world seems to be a place of panic and hysteria with the spread of the coronavirus. Fear seems to be the normal mainstream feeling of the day. I think much of the fear is of the unknown, wondering how severe this situation will become? I sure don’t criticize the fearful, in fact, I understand. But, I would like to remind you that fear is the opposite of faith. When we are overcome with fear, we aren’t focused on God and trusting Him.
Paul reminded Timothy that “God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control”(II Tim.1:7). The spirit of fear is not from God, so God’s people must never forget, no matter the circumstances, that God is always with us. “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling”(Psalm 46:1-3). As a little boy I had plenty of fears, but my dad always had the ability to eliminate those fears for me. As Christians, our Father is He who created and runs the universe and He will calm our fears if we will put our faith and trust in Him.
