Maybe it’s that this is an election year or the many recent tragedies. Perhaps social media is to blame. Maybe it’s the simple fact that we live in a fallen world. I’m not sure why it seems that there is so much negative noise in the world. I am sure; however, that complaining about what’s going on around us won’t solve our problems. Adding to the noise won’t help.
Jesus was known to engage discussions about important issues of the day on a regular basis (Matthew 23; Luke 2:41-52) so I know it has a place. Jesus was also known, perhaps more known, to actually do something about it, however (Matthew 15:29-39; Mark 2:1-12).
Today, do something. Don’t contribute to the negative noise. There’s plenty of talk – let’s do something.
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works.” (Hebrews 10:24 ESV)
“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (Colossians 3:17 ESV)
“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” (Galatians 6:9 ESV)
“Do all things without grumbling or disputing.” (Philippians 2:14 ESV)
