Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
Greetings from Thailand, the land of smiles. Grace and peace to you. I hope you are all doing well and continuing to stay active in the Lord’s work. I want to thank you for your continued prayers and support. I thank God for you, and I pray blessings upon your spiritual life and your family. In the past four months many great things have happened with my work. I thank God for using me as His tool to better His kingdom, and to spread His word in a place where people hunger for what is true, and real.
What has happened you ask...
On July 3, 2011, my aunt was baptized at the Prachinburi Church of Christ (my hometown). I am grateful for the opportunity to teach my aunt God’s word through the phone. That Sunday I went to visit the church at Prachinburi and I talked to my aunt more about God, we picked up from the last conversation we had on the phone. When my aunt decided to surrender her life to God and His will, I rejoiced and praised God for aiding our devotions together so that it led her to make this extraordinary decision. Please keep my aunt; Rabiab (Ra-bee-ub) in your prayers as she continues to grow in God’s word and see His will for her.
On July 24, 2011, Tan, a 15 year old boy was baptized at Watcharapon church of Christ. Tan lives across from RCC, and was very shy in crossing the street to meet us. Some of our students would go eat at his mothers restaurant and formed a relationship with Tan which then made him comfortable coming over to meet the rest of us. Tan has a servants heart, and has endured many unfortunate things in life at such a young age. But, he found hope and love in God through the people here at RCC. Tan recognized his own sins in his life and wanted to change the way he lived to serve our Lord Jesus Christ, and so he surrendered his life for God. Tan is making many changes to his life, and studying the Bible so that he can understand who God is more and more. Please continue to pray for Tan as he grows in his faith.
On July 8-10, 2011, we had the Let’s Stat Talking English Camp. We had a great turnout at camp this year, many of our students/readers went to camp with us. Through this camp we established stronger relationships with their readers. The outcome of camp was beautiful. After the LST left we were worried that our newest students would dwindle. But, we are so thankful that they continue to come and study both English and the Bible, and grow closer to us here at RCC.
As usual I have been helping with the regular English classes at Ramkhamhaeng Christian Center (RCC). The classes are going well. We always have new people come in. The students tend to change regularly but, we have several who have continued to come throughout the past months. Here at RCC we strive to show our students Gods love and encourage them to come and know more about why we do what we do.
One on one Bible Studies. I have been teaching Green, a 19 year old college student. I use the Let’s Start Talking workbook (the book of Luke), the first part of class we speak English because he wants to learn and practice speaking. The second part of class I use the book of John. For this part of class we speak Thai. At the moment Green acknowledges that there might be a God who created all things. Green has been coming to RCC for about a year; he has a strong relationship with the Christians at RCC and has gone to camp with us. I am also teaching Bom and Oil. Bom mentioned to me that he wanted to visit the church at least twice a month. I am thankful that Bom has an open mind to learn about God. Please keep these names in your prayers.
I have also been talking to my sister, Wiraht about God. I invited her to come to church for our Andrew project. This was a day to invite friends and family to visit the church on June 26, 2011. She came with my nephew and she told me she liked the atmosphere that day a lot and she wanted to continue to come. But, she lives very far away from the church so I encouraged her to go to the other church of Christ that is a little bit closer to her than Watcharapon. Please keep my sister, Wiraht in your prayers as she continues to hear the Good News.
I still continue with my Sports ministry project. I will have added volleyball to this project. Some of my students like to play volleyball, like Bom, Poo and a few young Christians at RCC. I hope to reach out to my student’s friends and attract many more people around the Ramkhamkhang University Campus.
Please continue to pray fervently for the Lord’s work in Thailand. The harvest here is plenty, but the workers are few. Please pray for me to be bold, through the power of the Holy Spirit and to speak the words that need to be said, according to God's Will. I also pray for you that your life is a shining example to people wherever you go. May your life reflect God’s love for others. I love you all with the love of the Lord! My our Lord receive all the glory and honor!
In Christ,
Sujin
June - August
Greetings from Thailand, the land of smiles! (Sawatdee Ka!)
I pray and hope all is well and active in the Lord’s work. It has been three months since my last newsletter was sent out. And now it is time that I want to let you all know what has happened in the last three months with the Lord’s work here in Thailand. It has been the busiest time of the year and many things have happened.
What happened in the last three month?
We have a new congregation at my province, Prachinburi. It is about two and a half hours drive from Bangkok. One Christian Thai couple (Mr. & Mrs. Sakulnakorn) decided to devote themselves by moving back to their hometown to spread the Good News and they use part of their house for the place to gather and worship. My Dad’s house is not too far from their house at all, it is about ten minutes drive. My Dad and this couple used to know each other more than ten years ago. I go back home to visit my Dad, my brother and his family and the rest of my relatives at least once or twice a month. Since the church was established in June 21, 2009, my Dad, my aunt, and my sister and her husband have gone to the church with me. My family is opening up to hear, but they still have many questions and negative thoughts about Christianity. I pray that they will hear more and more so that someday they will see and understand who God is and why Jesus came to this earth and died for us. The Watcharapon Church of Christ is supporting this new congregation; the church has been sending Christians to preach to the new congregation every week because the new congregation does not have a permanent preacher yet.
There were 4 baptisms: Winnie, Eke, Searm, and Prachit (the first new Christian in the congregation at Prachinburi). Mrs. Prachit is Mr. Sakulnakorn’s mom.
We had a group of LST workers from Southwestern Oklahoma State University to work with us at the Ramkhamhaeng Christian Center for six weeks.
We had a spiritual camp while the LST team was with us. This camp went very well and we had 13 students go with us. One of those, Searm, became a Christian a week after camp.
We also had another camp, which we called Christian retreat. This camp helped us who are already Christian spend more time to get to know each other and to encourage one another.
At the same time, we still have English classes and one on one Bible studies that have been happening regularly besides other outreach activities that happen every month.
What will be happening in the next three months?
- September 18-20, visit the congregation at Chaiyaphum province in northeastern Thailand.
- October 19-23, national Thai Christian camp at Rayoung province in southern of Thailand.
- November 3-5, national Retreat at the Watcharapon Church of Christ, Bangkok.
- November 26-29, visit the congregation at Chiang Mai province in north of Thailand.
- Visit the congregation at Prachinburi twice a month.
- Outreach project at Fashion Island (one of the biggest malls in Bangkok). We are currently working on the details of the plan and in two week or so we will represent our plan to the mall. Please pray that this project would get approved, if it is God’s plan. It is the first time that the Watcharapon Church of Christ will go out and tell everyone about God in a public place like the mall. If our project gets approved, the event will be during Christmas time. This project is very big and so exciting for all the members and the leaders of the church. At the church we have started classes to prepare the members to have more knowledge about God and be able to answer all kinds of questions that others might ask.
- New Christians and Old Christians to grow more spiritual.
- Our traveling.
- Camps and Retreats.
- Outreach project for the month of December.
- Our church leaders.
- Our students.
- Our work at the Ramkhamhaeng Christian Center.
