Counseling Center
The Christian Counseling Center is a general purpose counseling agency that provides consulting services for the Cabot Church of Christ and citizens in and around the Cabot community. It is our mission to provide Christian, ethical and professional services in a genuine, warm and open environment for the facilitation of whatever services the individual needs. When those needs aren’t able to be addressed by our professional experience or per the client request, we would be happy to offer referrals that would be most appropriate to your needs.
Gayla Spence is a LPC and also able to provide a wide range of counseling services with individuals. Josh Strickland is a new therapist from Harding that will also be taking new clients. Appointments are scheduled through the office. Both counselors work for Families, Inc. in Searcy and can bill some insurances through Families, Inc. even though they may see clients in our office. For more information or future need, please call Kathy Helpenstill at 501-743-9480 or the office at 843-5688.

The Education Ministry currently encompasses the Nursery through the 6th Grade, and all Post High School and Adult Classes. We honestly and openly explore God’s Word and the Bible is our guide. Our dedicated Teachers, Discussion Leaders and Presenters strive to provide a consistently meaningful and spiritually enriching learning experience for all ages. We have a fully equipped Teacher’s Workroom that allows teachers to utilize many visual aides in preparing for their classes. We cherish children as a gift from God and we cherish those that dedicate their time to teach them. We also provide a wide range of classes to address our diverse Church Family. We have in-depth College Level Bible Studies, a gregarious Homebuilder’s Class, small group discussion classes and inter-active lecture classes. We would be honored if you chose to join us!

Our goal is to provide food to families within the Cabot area who have a limited household income. We use guidelines that have been established by USDA to determine who is eligible to receive food. Donations from members of our congregation provide the funds that support our pantry by giving to a special contribution on the first Sunday of each month. All the work securing the food and distributing the food is accomplished by volunteers from the congregation
We distribute food on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month during the hours of 9:00 to 12:00. Each month we provide food to about 90 to 100 families or 225 to 250 individuals in the Cabot area. Total food given out each month is about 2000 to 2500 pounds.

The Involvement Ministry has collectively accepted the responsibility of connecting members of the church with service opportunities. To fulfill this responsiblity the members of the Involvement Ministry will create and maintain a database of the areas in which each member of the congregation is willing to serve, and will pass that information on to those who are leading the desired areas. As the need arises the Involvement Ministry will also communicate service opportunities to the congregation, as well as to interested individuals.

Lifelines
Lifelines is a group of 4-5 families that meet in each others homes 2 Sunday evenings per month to share a short lesson, fellowship, and typically share a meal. We have approximately 20 groups that meet on scheduled nights beginning around August and ending around May. Each year (around August) opens a new session of Lifelines often with new leaders and the congregation can sign up to attend one of the groups. This ministry is a great way to fellowship and build relationships with other families within the congregation as it allows everyone to join different groups each year and learn more about each other. The major need for service in Lifelines is to be a group leader. Group leaders act more as a facilitator to coordinate where to meet and who will give the lesson. Schedules for meeting times and short, well prepared small group lessons are provided. This ministry is a great way to build lifelong Christian relationships.

Local Outreach Ministry
The Cabot Church of Christ local outreach ministry is an effort to reach out to those who visit our services and show a friendly church. We have a core team that will seek out visitors and express a true desire to get to know them. We also send cards and make contacts during the first week after their visit. We believe that a concentrated effort of eight or ten of our members forming a circle of relationship around our visitors make them feel more comfortable. This also gives us the opportunity to assist them if they have urgent needs and show Christian love to our neighbors. Jesus ministry was about going to the lost, the hurting, and to the interested people. Our desire is to try to imitate Him in this work.

The primary purpose of the Member Needs ministry is to provide service to members who are unable to perform certain tasks on their own or to address certain needs that members need help with.
The first and probably most important task is serving communion to the shut-ins. We have members at both of the nursing homes in Cabot that we serve and also serve members at home when the need arises. Our visits are so important to these members who are unable to attend services and enjoy the fellowship of the assembly, in addition to being an incredibly rewarding experience for those serving. This is an excellent opportunity for families to serve together, as the members treasure the visits by little children. We have an immediate need in this ministry for volunteers. We would like to get enough men to divide the nursing homes and lighten the load of those already serving.
Our Handy Helper ministry is the second area of service covered by the Members Needs Ministry. We cater mostly to widowed, elderly, and single mothers. The Handy Helpers do light house maintenance such as minor electrical and plumbing repairs. We also can try to assist with a limited amount of car, lawnmower, and weed eater repair. Handy Helper will also organize lawn service for hospitalized or convalescing members as the need arises. The Handy Helpers are always looking for talented handymen to join this worthy cause.

Missions
The mission committee is emphasizing the involvement of the congregation in mission work as well as supporting efforts that may or are making a difference for the Lord worldwide. We encourage our members to be personally involved so several thousand dollars are used each year for short term mission efforts. Most of these are college students. We send a group to Canada each summer to work with Western Christian College, (Priors). We intend to send small groups to Guatemala two or three times a year but due to circumstances out of our control that has not happened yet but we have budgeted money for it and are planning on going in the future. If you are interested any of these see Paul or Gordon.
We are involved in several long term efforts. We currently fully support a native preacher in Guatemala (Burts) and we partially support Sujin Nelson in Thailand (Killingsworth/Simpson), Jordan’s in Hawaii, a native preacher in New Zealand, Aaron Knotts (Sutherlins), and a Hispanic minister, Roberto Moran, in North Little Rock (Cloninger). In addition we support general efforts, Truth for Today and Minsk preacher’s school (Coombs).
We are interested in any worthwhile mission effort that will involve the congregation. If you have any suggestions or ideas please let Paul or Gordon know. Everyone on the mission committee is responsible for one of the mission efforts. Their names appear with the area in the paragraphs above.
There are other efforts that come up each year that we support or are involved in such as Charlie’s trip to Ukrain and supporting the Eastern European Mission’s Bible initiative. Also a group of members have supported two missionaries in India for several years outside the budget. There is also a group, World Bible School, that sends Bible lessons to individuals in Nigeria, Malawi, and Ghana. This group also grades and returns completed lessons.
If you have any questions see the individual(s) responsible for the area (listed above) or for general questions talk to Paul or Gordon.

We want you to feel welcome and comfortable here at Cabot, ready to serve the Lord in the church using what ever talents God has given to you. We set up a class that lets you meet the ministry leaders here in Cabot. This four week class is a crash course on the church to show you what is available to you as a member and how to get involved.

World Bible School
We at the Cabot congregation have a small group of individuals that work on sending out WBS lessons. We work together on Wednesday evenings during bible class. Our purpose and mission is the same as the World Bible School organization, and that is to share Jesus with as many of the world’s lost as we can.
We can always use additional workers. Workers do not have to meet with the group on Wednesday nights. This work can be done at home during a person’s spare time.
