“Freedom Comes With A Price”

“Freedom Comes With A Price” If there is one thing we all want it’s freedom. We are so fortunate to live in a free country and enjoy all the many freedoms that we have on a daily basis. Freedom is something that we should never take for granted because freedom isn’t free. The freedom you and I enjoy every day comes with a price. So many men and women past and present have fought and are fighting for our freedom. Many have lost lives for our freedom and those who survived sacrificed time away from their families and even physical and emotional trauma. Freedom comes with a price. The spiritual freedom that we enjoy as Christians also comes with a price. “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”(Gal.5:1) In the context of Galatians 5, Paul is referring to how Christ had set them free from the burden of the Law of Moses by his death on the cross. Through His death on the cross Jesus also set us free from sin. Don’t misunderstand; we weren’t set free by Jesus at the cross so that we could sin more. Jesus freed us from sin so that we could enjoy forgiveness of sins in Christ and have the hope of eternal life in heaven. Our freedom from sin cost God the life of His Son Jesus. Chuck Ball

“The Top Of Every Dad’s To Do List”

“The Top Of Every Dad’s To Do List” I know we dads seem to have an unending “to do” list all of the time. Aside from all the repairs and chores from the “to do” list that we’d like to forget about, there is also that “to do” list that we love and look forward to accomplishing. As a dad I love my “to do” list with my kids. That may sound bad, but I don’t mean it in a negative way at all. I have a mental list of things I’d like to do today, this summer or this year with my kids. This list includes any and everything from playing catch or basketball to seeing a ballgame to going to a specific restaurant or movie with one of them or all of them. This is the “to do” list that I long for and can’t wait for each activity with my kids. No matter how young or old my kids were or what time of the year it was, there is one thing about my “to do” list that has remained the same since we’ve had kids. The top of my mental “to do” list with my kids reads: “lead each of my children to Jesus and teach them to love God more than anyone or anything”. We’ve been blessed to do some fun and neat things with our kids so far but all of that will be meaningless if I don’t lead them to heaven. The most important thing a dad can do for his children is lead them to Christ. Leading your children to Christ is the one thing that will be with them forever and throughout eternity. Leading your children to Christ will hopefully begin a legacy that will challenge them to follow and pass on to their children someday. “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”(Eph.6:4) Dad’s, let’s enjoy fun times with our children but make the top priority on our “to do” list leading our children to Jesus. “Where To Invest”

“Where To Invest” So much is said about investments and making sure that we invest properly for the future. Many invest so they can retire from their career someday. There are so many different companies that can help us with our financial investments. I understand the necessity of money and investing financially for the future and I also realize that when we think of investing we automatically think of financial investments. It’s as if financial investments are the only investments that can be made. I believe financial investments are important but I also believe there are other investments that are just as important. I’m no financial specialist and I won’t tell you where to invest your money but I will encourage you to invest time into your family. The greatest blessing God has given any of us next to forgiveness and a relationship with Him is our family. The question is do we invest into our family like we do our financial portfolio? Do we get so caught up in our careers and making investments for our bright future that we hardly invest at all into what’s most important, our family? The only thing it takes to invest into our families is time. If you don’t have the time to invest into your spouse and children then friend you are way too busy. The best investments we can make in this life have nothing do with money and everything to do with time with those we love most. “Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her.”(Eph.5:25) “Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”(Eph.6:4) Chuck Ball

“Walking In Son Light”

“Walking In Son Light” “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”(I Jno.1:7) From baptism on the goal of every Christian should be to walk in the light. There are three huge benefits to walking in the light. First of all, if we walk in the light we have fellowship or a relationship with God. Christianity is all about having a relationship with God and God is light so I better walk in the light. Secondly, those who walk in the light have fellowship or relationship with one another. One of the greatest blessings of being a Christian is the fellowship and encouragement we have with our brothers in sisters in Christ. Thirdly, for those who continue to walk in the light the blood of Jesus continues to purify them of their sins. It’s easy to see the need and benefits to walking in the light but what about the how to? What does it mean to walk in the light? How are we Christians to do this? Walking in the light is simply following Jesus. It has nothing to do with being perfect, as none us are, but just being faithful to God. Walking in the light is striving daily to be as much like Jesus as possible. It’s a beautiful thing to be able to go outside and enjoy a walk in the sunlight. It’s far more meaningful, in this life and the next, as Christians to walk daily in the SON light. Chuck Ball
